A. EFiling is the electronic transmission of your document from your desktop to the Court's case and document management system. A simple user interface directs you through the process and provides you with a record of the transaction. Your document is added to an online docket, which remains available to you, your firm and the other firms in your case. The online docket builds a case history of the eFiled documents, which can be accessed from anywhere that you have Internet access.
A. EService is the electronic transmission of your document from your desktop to the online accounts of the parties on the service list in your case. A simple user interface directs you through the process and provides you with a record of the transaction. You can use eService in conjunction with your eFiling transaction - conveniently serving your eFiled document on the other parties in your case in a single transaction - or you can eServe some or all of the other parties in your case with documents not being filed with the Court, such as correspondence and discovery, eServed documents become part of the online docket and are accessible to the parties on which they were served.
A. For new cases, customers can ask the court to add cases through Case & Party Management. For existing cases with a case number, customers can search File & Serve for the case. If the case is not found, the customer can add cases themselves using the “Add Case” button below the search results.
Select “Filing & Service” from the tab options at the top of the page, which will take you to a screen where you will enter the state, court, case name and case number to begin eFiling into the case. Select “Illinois” in the state field, “Illinois DuPage 18th Judicial Circuit” in the Court field, enter the Case Number, and click “Find.”
If the case number is not found, select “Add Case” below the search results:
A. Mental Health is a “secure” case class on File & ServeXpress. As such, the customer will only be able to see the case if their firm/organization is already on the case. Thus, customers will need to contact the Court to be added to new Mental Health cases that their firm/organization is not yet involved with on File & ServeXpress.
A. On the “Documents” tab during an eFile transaction, there is a drop-down box to select “Access.” From the drop-down options, select “Sealed, electronic.” Once selected, note the Access description for “Sealed, electronic” documents: These documents are electronically submitted and available for viewing only to the court, the firm that submitted the document, and firms that are served with the document.
A. Yes, pro se filers can register and file cases as self-represented litigants from any computer, using a credit card to pay any fees. Pro se filers can also file documents at the courthouse using Public Access Terminals, which requires a one-time ID/password generated by the court and requires paying any court fees directly to the court, unless waived. For transactions conducted via Public Access Terminals, any File & ServeXpress fees are waived.
The following case types are available for filings from pro se/self-represented litigants: Law, Arbitration, Miscellaneous Remedy, Dissolution, Chancery, Family, Law Magistrate, Orders of Protection, Probate and Small Claims.
A. Yes, electronically filed documents that require an original signature when conventionally filed shall bear a facsimile or typographical signature of the attorney or self-represented party authorizing such filing, (e.g. "/s/ Adam Attorney"), and shall be deemed to have been signed in-person by the individual identified. A. “Value-Added Fee” is the fee for each transaction. Per an Order from the Illinois Supreme Court, eFiling providers can no longer charge a fee for “eFiling,” but they can charge a fee for “value-added services,” such as the convenient monthly billing, conversion of documents to PDF format, permanent document storage, and 24/7/365 customer support provided by File & ServeXpress.

A. Yes, DuPage County mandated eFiling in January 2016. The state of Illinois will mandate eFiling for all civil cases, effective January 1, 2018.
A. eService of filed documents via File & ServeXpress is optional, but the state of Illinois requires emailing of all filed document by some method – i.e. personal email or eService via your eFiling provider, which is much more secure than eFiling. You also have the option of using File & ServeXpress to eServe documents that are not eFiled, such as discovery, by using an "eServe Only" delivery option.
A. There are four different delivery options for users of File & ServeXpress:
A. You can find the reason for the rejection by clicking on the Rejected Items queue on File & ServeXpress. Click on the transaction identification number (TID) of the rejected transaction and find the Document History link that is next to the rejected document. The reason for rejection along with the clerk who reviewed the document will be listed on the Document History screen. If you have elected to receive complimentary email notifications, an email with the rejection reason will also be sent to your email on file. A. Your firm will need to set up a File & ServeXpress account and add your individual attorneys and staff to your account. You will not be charged any one-time or recurring fees for setting up your accounts. Click here to Register.

A. When attorneys/law firm staff electronically file documents with the Court we'll calculate the court's statutory filing fees and advance those fees to the Court on your behalf. Pro se filers will pay court fees and service provider fees via credit card, with a 4.5% credit card convenience fee added to the total transaction charge.
A. The deadline is 11:59 PM CDT for both eFiling and eService. You may prepare filings in File & ServeXpress 24/7 however the Court requires you must meet the 11:59 PM CDT deadline in order to receive that day's file-stamp.

A. Yes, you can customize your notifications as needed by logging in and clicking on Preferences.
A. Click on the transaction number of any previously filed document. The transaction details page will show the clerk review status. If a filing has been rejected you may click on the document history to view clerk notes. You will also receive a courtesy email notice informing you of any rejected item.
