Database Engineer
Role Overview
File & ServeXpress is an industry leader in Legal Technology. We are looking for a Database Engineer to join our team and help design, optimize, and maintain our data infrastructure.
As a Database Engineer, you will be responsible for managing and improving our database systems to ensure efficiency, security, and scalability. You will work closely with our development and data teams to create seamless data solutions.
Responsibilities & Duties
- Design, Develop, and maintain database solutions for FSX’s clients
- Design and implement scalable database architectures.
- Optimize queries and performance tuning for efficiency.
- Ensure data security, integrity, and backup strategies.
- Collaborate with software engineers to integrate database solutions into customer applications.
- Monitor database health and troubleshoot issues.
- Automate database maintenance tasks.
- Participate in all steps of the Agile process including Sprint Planning, Sprint Review, Sprint Retrospective, and Daily Scrum.
- Thoroughly test through both automated and manual means all code to prove its effectiveness.
- Collaborate and help team members by sharing knowledge and combining brainpower to solve problems.
- Look for ways to improve processes and functionality to further deliver increased value to FSX’s clients.
- Take a leadership role in resolving production related issues.
- Be a contributor in high level meetings to provide technical guidance.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience
- 5 years of experience in a prior database development including interactions with nontechnical stakeholders
- Proficiency in SQL and cloud-based databases.
- Experience with database optimization and security best practices.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Experience with Azure is a plus.
- Deep knowledge of software development lifecycle best practices, including source control, testing, security, maintainability, code reuse, etc.
- Drive to understand the vision of a project and work closely with team members to see it through to completion
- Ability to communicate with non-technical stakeholders
